Physicists at Yerevan State University in Armenia have published findings on strange quark stars, hypothetical compact stars made of strange quark matter, in two leading international journals.
The authors are Arsen Babajanyan, head of the Radiophysics and Telecommunications Chair, Hasmik Shahinyan, an associate professor in the same chair, and Tigran Sargsyan. The papers appeared in Nuclear Physics B and Particles, both ranked Q1.
The studies examined the stability and maximum mass of these stars by varying vacuum pressure and strong interaction parameters. Some massive pulsars may be candidates for strange stars, but more observational data is needed. The team now plans to address dark energy, dark matter and axions.
