Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This page explains what personal data LITOS NEWS (litosnews.com) processes, for what purposes, with whom it is shared and what your rights are, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Luxembourg law. In short: LITOS NEWS does not use advertising, does not use analytics or tracking tools and does not sell data to anyone.

1. Data controller

Bruno Daniel Mesquita Pereira, Luxembourg (full address in the Legal Notice).
Contact for privacy matters: newslitos@gmail.com or via the Contact page.

2. Reading the website

You do not need to create an account or provide any personal data to read the news. When you visit the website, the hosting server automatically logs technical data (IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time) for security reasons and to keep the website running. These logs are kept by the hosting provider for a short period and are not used to identify visitors. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and operational (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Contact form

If you write to us via the Contact page, we process your name, email address, subject, optional link and message solely in order to reply to you. The message is sent to the website’s email account (a Gmail service provided by Google) and is also stored in the website’s dashboard. We delete messages no later than 12 months after the matter has been resolved, or earlier if you ask us to. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

4. Comments

If you leave a comment, we store your name, email address, the text, your IP address and the date. Your email address is never published. Comments remain published for as long as the story is on the website, unless you ask us to delete them. To display a profile picture next to your comment, the website may use the Gravatar service (Automattic), which receives a code generated from your email address. Legal basis: your consent when commenting.

5. Weather at the top of the website

The weather shown at the top comes from the Open-Meteo service. By default, we show the weather in Luxembourg and your browser requests the data from Open-Meteo, which receives your IP address as with any internet connection. Only if you click the location icon will your browser ask your permission to use your device’s location. In that case, your approximate (rounded) position is sent to Open-Meteo to obtain the weather, and to BigDataCloud to display the name of your town or city. The location is stored only in your browser and you can delete it by clearing the website’s data. We do not receive or store your location.

6. Automatic translation

The globe button lets you read the website in other languages using Google Translate. This service is only loaded if you choose a language other than Portuguese. In that case, the page is sent to Google to be translated and the cookie googtrans is stored with the language you chose. When you select “Português” again, the cookie is deleted.

7. Support (Ko-fi)

The “Support” buttons take you to the LITOS NEWS page on Ko-fi. Any support is given on the Ko-fi website, and payments are processed by Ko-fi and its payment partners in accordance with their privacy policy. We only receive the name or message you choose to share.

8. Cookies and browser storage

LITOS NEWS does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookies and data stored in your browser are:

  • googtrans: stores the language chosen with the translation globe (only exists if you choose another language);
  • WordPress comment cookies: remember your name and email address in the comment form, if you ask it to;
  • litos-wx-loc (local storage): stores the weather location, only if you use the location icon;
  • WordPress session cookies: only for those who manage the website and log in to the dashboard.

9. Who we share data with

We do not sell or transfer personal data. Data only passes through the providers needed for the website to work:

  • Hostinger, website hosting (servers in the European Union);
  • Google, for the website’s email (Gmail) and, if you choose it, automatic translation;
  • Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud, for the weather, as described in section 5;
  • Automattic (Gravatar), for profile pictures in comments;
  • Ko-fi, if you decide to support the project.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union. In such cases, the transfer takes place with the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

10. Links to other websites

Each story links to its original source. When you open those links, you become subject to the privacy policy of those websites. The same applies to the share buttons (Facebook, WhatsApp), which are simple links: they load nothing from those services until you click them.

11. Your rights

You may, at any time, request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of or objection to its processing, data portability, and withdraw any consent you have given. Simply write to newslitos@gmail.com; we will reply within one month. If you believe your data is not being handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg data protection authority, the CNPD (Commission nationale pour la protection des données).

12. Minors

The website is suitable for all ages, but the contact form and comments are intended for people aged 16 and over. Below that age, permission from a parent is required.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website changes. The date at the top indicates the version currently in force.
