Modernisation of the Kalemie–Manono road is moving ahead in Tanganyika province. The corridor, more than 427 kilometres long, has been split into three sections and aims to improve the movement of people and goods between the region’s economic hubs.

In the first section, overall progress exceeds 76%, while the roadbed and foundations are over 88% complete. The bridge over the Luvua river is nearing completion, and another 44-metre bridge has been finished.

In the second section, work has reached about 75%. Once complete, the road is expected to reduce the isolation of communities, make trade easier and support the integrated development of Tanganyika.
