At the IPC Hand Soldering Competition held at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) on 14 October, 24 school and university students had 45 minutes to solder a complex printed circuit board assembly. Certified trainers judged the work against international criteria.

The winner was Hans Anniste, a recent Hardware Development and Programming graduate now doing a PhD, who received 600 euros, including a 300-euro scholarship from the Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics.

Master’s student Mihkel Türnpu came second, and 12-year-old Peeter Kundla, from Tallinn 21st School, took third place.
