American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) student Kaloyan Georgiev and his thesis supervisor, Professor Soowhan (Jack) Yoon, presented a research paper based on the student’s senior thesis on 12 October in Sofia.

The paper combines game theory, which studies how players cooperate, compete and make decisions, with reinforcement learning, in which algorithms learn from experience. It examines how AI algorithms make choices when multiple agents interact.

“I enjoy coming up with my own research problems and finding ways to solve them independently, without having a blueprint to follow,” said Kaloyan, who sees the experience as his first step into academic research.
