The Compagnie du TransGuinéen passenger train made its inaugural journey in Guinea on 12 October, covering 148 kilometres between the port city of Morébaya and Kassa, in Mamou prefecture.

The line will link Morébaya port to the Simandou area in the south, crossing all four of Guinea’s natural regions.

Along the way the train passes through an 11.6-kilometre tunnel, described as the longest railway tunnel in West Africa. The presidency also highlighted the many Guinean professionals involved in building it.
