The University of Malawi (UNIMA) hosted a delegation from Makerere University, Uganda, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, on 26 October to learn about its online learning model, the E-Campus.

The UNIMA team demonstrated its learning platform and digital library, and explained that online learning keeps teaching going during floods, droughts, storms and extreme heat. The first E-Campus students are expected to graduate in 2027.

Makerere’s vice-chancellor praised the model and said his university aims to move all its programmes online by 2030 to widen access to higher education in Uganda. UNIMA Vice-Chancellor Professor Samson Sajidu thanked Makerere for choosing UNIMA.
