Twenty volunteer women from the Naipalala and Caxila neighbourhoods of Ondjiva, in Angola’s Cunene province, make up a Mother to Mother group that supports families with young children. The volunteers carry out home visits, screen for malnutrition and give advice on diet, hygiene and breastfeeding.

Between February and April 2026, the UNICEF-supported initiative screened 883 children under five, and health facilities reported a significant increase in the early identification of malnutrition cases. The model turns solidarity between neighbours into a practical prevention network.
