ETH Zurich researchers have developed luminescent polymers that withstand photolithography, the process used to make microchips. With this approach, they were able to produce very small OLED pixels in different colours, patterned with great precision.

The materials could also be used in microscopy, sensors and light sources for medical research. The team has already demonstrated the pixels, but a complete working screen will still require integration with control electronics.
