The National University of Asunción (UNA), Paraguay, and Nalanda University, India, signed a memorandum of understanding on 15 October to strengthen intellectual, cultural and historical ties and develop academic cooperation.

The signing took place in San Lorenzo and marked 65 years of diplomatic relations between Paraguay and India. UNA Rector Zully Vera de Molinas signed in person, while Nalanda Vice-Chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi joined virtually.

The three-year agreement covers joint research supervision, teaching programmes, postdoctoral research, conferences, joint publications and exchanges of faculty, researchers and students. Priority areas are sustainability, climate change, languages and cultural studies.
