Brazil’s para taekwondo team finished the Paris leg of the sport’s Grand Prix on Thursday 8 October at the top of the medal table. In total, Brazilian athletes stepped onto the podium six times: two golds, three silvers and a bronze.
One of the highlights was a rematch of the Paralympic final in the women’s under-65kg category. Ana Carolina Moura, Paralympic champion at Paris 2024, faced France’s Djelika Diallo again and won once more, this time by 2 rounds to 0.
In the under-57kg category, the final was an all-Brazilian affair: Silvana Cardoso took gold by beating Maria Eduarda Stumpf, who settled for silver. Gustavo Antony Ruppel joined the medallists with a bronze in the 58kg category.
According to Agência Brasil, it is the country’s best performance since the start of this Grand Prix, which had already visited Rome and Muju, in South Korea. The team is now preparing for the World Championships, scheduled for 20 to 22 November in Muju.
