Angonabeiro, a company in the Nabeiro group, which produces Delta coffees, advanced around $1.5 million (approximately €1.3 million) to Angolan coffee growers during the last harvest season. The aim was to help prepare the farms and strengthen production capacity.

The information was given by the company’s managing director, Rui Gonçalves, during the Coffee Round Table in Luanda. The meeting brought together business people, producers, financial institutions and public bodies to discuss financing for the sector and the future of coffee in Angola.

The company buys green coffee from around 30,000 producers, from large estates to smallholders. In addition to financial support, it also provides farm implements, tractors and other equipment to prepare the land.

According to him, Angonabeiro would today have the capacity to buy more than double its current volume, so conditions need to be created to increase the supply of coffee produced in the country.
