The 12th National Symposium for Disaster Risk Reduction was held from 10 to 12 October in Nakuru County, Kenya, organised by the National Disaster Operations Centre under the theme “Resilience Starts at Home”.

It brought together government, academia, civil society and UN agencies such as UNDP and UNFPA to strengthen preparedness, response and recovery.

Dr Gordon Ocholla, Kisumu Centre Coordinator at Mount Kenya University (MKU), joined a panel on gender, protection and social inclusion, discussing how resilience efforts can meet the needs of everyone when disaster strikes.
