The Dutch research council NWO has awarded Vidi grants of up to 850,000 euros each to four researchers at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) to develop their research lines and groups.
Christopher Hojny will combine neural networks with mixed-integer programming to support decisions in energy, transport and healthcare. Elisa Perrone will improve forecasts of dangerous weather in which several conditions occur together, such as storms and low visibility during landing.
Irene Kuling will develop systems that let users feel what a remote robot hand touches, useful for remote maintenance and healthcare. Tommaso Ristori will build computational models to help regrow blood vessels in hearts damaged by a heart attack.
