Uruguay’s University of the Republic (Udelar) has launched pioneering research on everyday life and work in Antarctica, bringing health psychology and ethnography to the “frozen continent”.
The project aims to understand how scientists, technicians and other staff build a shared life and organise their work in one of the most isolated and harsh places on the planet.
The initiative comes from the Human Mobility, Work, Health and Human Rights group (Movyt) of the Institute of Health Psychology. The launch featured institute director Carolina Farías, Uruguayan Antarctic Institute director Diego Aguirrezábal, and lead researchers Lorena Funcasta Duce and Karina Boggio.
