The Philippines’ weather service, PAGASA, under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), has launched the EASi tool (ENSO Assessment Simplified), which analyses El Niño, La Niña and neutral phases across the country’s regions.

The tool displays historical local rainfall and El Niño data in interactive graphs, maps and charts, and lets users select regions and analyse rainfall trends in each phase. It is aimed at climate specialists, agriculturists and public bodies, but also at the public, for research and education.

EASi will be added to the online El Niño platform and showcased at the National Science, Technology and Innovation Week from 25 to 29 November. DOST expects a very strong El Niño in the last quarter of 2026, and the tool aims to help plan the response.
