Singapore has launched ReadSG, a five-year national campaign led by the National Library to build a reading habit. The challenge is to read for at least 15 minutes a day.

Participants log their reading on a government platform and earn 20 virtual coins for every day they read for at least 15 minutes. A thousand coins are worth one Singapore dollar: the idea is not to make money, but to build a habit.

There is also a collective target: if the population logs 7.5 million minutes of reading, up to 150,000 Singapore dollars will be donated to charitable causes. The campaign aims to help people swap some screen time for a good book.
