El Salvador’s under-16 team, known as “La Azulita”, won the 2026 UNCAF FIFA Forward Under-16 tournament without losing a game. The final against Panama was played in the rain at the Estadio Nacional Las Delicias in Santa Tecla.

Panama scored in first-half stoppage time, but Isaac Kofi equalised from the penalty spot in the 66th minute. Earlier, goalkeeper José Alvarenga had already saved a Panamanian penalty.

In the shootout, the Salvadorans scored all five of their kicks and Alvarenga shone again by saving Panama’s fifth attempt, sealing a 5-3 win.

It is the country’s first title in this age group in 19 years, since the 2007 regional championship. Isaac Kofi was named player of the tournament.
