The University of Portsmouth, in the south of England, won three prizes at the TIGA UK Games Education Awards 2026, announced on 5 October by TIGA, the trade association for the UK video games industry.

Michael Hennessy, 23, a former Computer Games Design student, received the award for the most outstanding design graduate of the year. He says the course, his lecturers and fellow students helped him see game design as an art form.

Anna Limpens, course leader for Computer Games Production, won the innovative teaching award for lecturers, and the university’s games courses received the innovative teaching award for teams.

The team now heads to London for the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2026, where the university is shortlisted in the educational institution and education initiative categories.
