The University of Botswana has joined six universities from Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe to form the KAZA Universities Consortium, which will support research, education and conservation across the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA).

Vice Chancellor David Norris signed the agreement at the University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo Campus. The consortium will cover joint research, postgraduate training, academic exchanges and community engagement.

KAZA TFCA Executive Director Nyambe Nyambe stressed that such partnerships can generate evidence on climate change, biodiversity loss and youth unemployment. A research conference followed from 13 to 16 October under the theme ‘One KAZA: People, Nature and Health’.
