Two students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Adam Aqil Fairus and Ahmed Salihin Matnoh, received awards in the international CanSat category at the 5th ICESCO Aerospace Symposium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The event ran from 16 to 21 October at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, organised by ICESCO with Uzbekistan’s space agency, and brought together about 250 trainees from several countries.

Participants designed, assembled and programmed CanSats, small satellites the size of a soft-drink can, which were launched on rockets at an airfield. Awards and certificates were presented at the closing ceremony on 21 October.
