The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) expects its first students at the new School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development in Larnaca in September 2027. They will start on the Sustainable Development programme, in temporary premises provided by the municipality.
The school will have two departments: Sustainable Development, and Marine Sciences and Technology. An international advisory committee with academics from Cambridge and Oxford helped shape the curricula, and the school has signed its first eight cooperation agreements with Cypriot industrial and economic bodies.
At the foundation-stone ceremony, the future building was presented: about 4,960 square metres, financed by the European Investment Bank and due for completion in August 2028. At full capacity, the school expects around 500 students.
