On 12 October in Pristina, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) signed a €41 million loan — €20.5 million from each bank — to modernise seven public hospitals in Kosovo.

The financing covers the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo in Pristina and six regional hospitals. It will buy diagnostic, therapeutic and life-support equipment, including CT scanners, ultrasound systems and operating-room equipment, and upgrade critical-care units.

The project is expected to benefit about 1.6 million people, including vulnerable low-income households, and supports Kosovo’s Health Sector Strategy 2025–2030.
