Madrid’s Sorolla Museum opened its new extension building on Calle Zurbano 68 to the public on 15 October, adding more than 2,000 square metres of new space.

The building has four temporary exhibition halls, an 80-seat auditorium, a unified store for more than 9,500 cultural items and a restoration workshop. Total investment, including purchase, refurbishment and equipment, came to €13,104,692.

The opening exhibition, “Tras la casa del artista. Arquitecturas del Museo Sorolla (1905–2026)”, runs until 10 January 2027. The painter’s historic house remains closed for a second phase of works, including full refurbishment and restoration of the gardens.
