The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum was officially reopened on 5 October, after almost four years of expansion and renovation work. The big new feature is the ‘Agravitas’ building, designed by architects Norman Foster and Luis María Uriarte.

The extension adds 6000 square metres to the museum, including a large space devoted to temporary exhibitions. Among the reopening shows is ‘La búsqueda del comienzo’, a tribute to the collector Plácido Arango.

The museum opened to the general public on 6 October and is offering free admission until 13 October, as a way of inviting visitors to discover the new spaces and the fresh perspective on its collection.
