The National Centre for Art, Crafts and Design (CNAD), in São Vicente, will open the exhibition “Sonora” at Galeria Zero on 15 October. It is a sound and visual installation by artist Marcelo Lopes, curated by Sofia Berberan.
According to a CNAD statement, the work explores the links between memory, identity, music and territory. To do so, it draws on family archive photographs, materials salvaged from boat hulls and soundscapes.
The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on home, the island and the memories that remain when people move far away.
