Uruguay’s University of the Republic (Udelar) received official authorisation on 26 October to broadcast on channel 234, at 94.7 MHz, in the city of Salto. The new station, “La Regional”, will be the country’s second over-the-air university radio station.

The station will have an effective radiated power of 1 kW and will operate as a public broadcasting service.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, the station will also serve as a teaching space for the practical training of university students, making broadcasting itself an act of teaching.
