Construction has begun in Las Bandurrias, in the municipality of Coyhaique, of a new Rural Sanitation Service that will bring drinking water to 303 families.
The project represents an investment of 6,656 million Chilean pesos and is due to take 22 months. It includes intakes from watercourses and a back-up source on the Coyhaique river, as well as two treatment systems.
The initiative grew out of more than a decade of campaigning by residents and is expected to improve the continuity and security of supply in a growing peri-urban area.
