Luxembourg’s Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has unveiled the “SkillsTrucks”, three lorries that convert into mobile workshops to introduce secondary school pupils to vocational training. The presentation took place on 30 September at the Campus Geesseknäppchen in the capital, with minister Claude Meisch.

Once set up, each lorry becomes a workshop of around 90 square metres dedicated to two fields: wood and metal, cooking and pastry, or hairdressing and beauty care. Pupils can try out basic professional techniques under the guidance of master-certified trainers, and perhaps discover a vocation.

In the 2026/2027 school year, around 400 pupils per term will be able to take part. The lorries move to a different school each term, so that students from several schools have access to the full range, and they will also open to the general public during the school holidays.

The initiative is part of the Shape Your Future campaign, launched in 2025 together with the professional chambers to promote vocational training in the country.
