Guinea’s Government launched on 2 November the environmental rehabilitation of the former Dar es Salam dump in Gbessia, Conakry, which will be turned into a modern park.
For years the site was associated with piled-up waste, pollution and poor living conditions for nearby neighbourhoods. The ceremony included a moment of remembrance for the victims of tragic events there.
The aim is to create a space for nature, rest and community life, following other renovations of public spaces in the capital such as Camayenne beach and Gbassikolo lake.
