The Mechanical Engineering Department and the Aerospace Laboratory at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) organised a design-a-thon to create the official emblem for Quetzal-2, Guatemala’s second satellite mission.

Students from different programmes competed alone or in teams of up to five and had five and a half hours to create designs representing the mission’s scientific and technological character. The rules banned AI tools.

The organisers also wanted to bring students closer to the satellite project and recognise their creative talent.
