Six Computer Science and Automation students from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, won the idea category in the Serbian round of an international innovation competition for university students, held in Belgrade.

Their project proposes using the city’s wastewater to cool data centres in Novi Sad. The heat absorbed during cooling would then help treat the wastewater, with artificial intelligence predicting and managing the system.

The idea also includes an environmental impact assessment, covering greenhouse gas emissions. With the win, the team of Natalija Pavlović, Marija Pavlović, Minja Drakul, Đurđina Dobrilović, Uroš Dobrilović and Dejan Blagojević will present the project at the international final at Nanjing University in China.
