Uruguay’s University of the Republic (Udelar) held a series of meetings in Soriano to work on the challenges of consolidating the university in the Southwest Region and coordinating with local authorities.

There were also meetings with the Pro-Udelar Commission of Soriano and the local press. Since 2024, the university has strengthened its presence in the region by developing campuses in Colonia and Soriano.

This growth stems from the university’s decentralisation policy, aimed at reducing geographic inequalities, promoting greater social inclusion and democratising access to higher education outside the capital.
