Spain recorded in September the biggest rise in Social Security registrations on record for the month, with 92,327 more people in work. Year on year, the country has almost 740,000 more workers (739,888).
Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the labour market added 108,832 registrations, reaching 22,480,796, the highest figure in the series. It is the 68th consecutive month of growth.
Part of the increase is due to the extraordinary process of regularising immigrants: 421,000 foreign workers have joined through this route, 83,389 more than on the last day of August.
Registered unemployment rose slightly over the month, but the total of 2,379,505 people is the lowest for a September since 2007 and represents 42,160 fewer unemployed people than a year ago. Female unemployment stood at its lowest level since September 2008.
