South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given US$2 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support children in Somalia, the agency announced on 30 September.

The support reaches 47,500 children: around 10,300 receive home-grown school meals made with food bought from local farmers, and 37,200 children under five receive treatment for moderate acute malnutrition.

WFP-supported schools recorded a 98% retention rate in 2025. Since 2022, South Korea has given US$7.6 million to WFP for nutrition, school meals and climate resilience in Somalia.
