The World Bank’s latest India Development Update, published on 6 October, projects India’s economy to grow 7.1% in FY27, supported by strong domestic demand and exports. It describes India as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.
The report highlights global capability centres — units that large international companies set up in India. In 2025 they employed 2.36 million professionals, up from 1.9 million in 2024, an increase of roughly 24%.
Private investment in artificial intelligence in the country also tripled, from $1.2 billion in 2024 to $4.1 billion in 2025.
