South Korea’s Yun Kyu-sung won the gold medal in the men’s individual poomsae final, taekwondo’s forms discipline, at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan. The event took place on 1 October at the Toyohashi Arena.

Yun scored 9.380 points, the average of his two performances, edging out Thailand’s Navin Pinthasute by just a tenth. It was South Korea’s second poomsae gold of these Games, after Jung Ha-eun won the women’s event on the same day.

Aged 24, Yun had been world runner-up in 2024 and Asian champion this year. He becomes the third South Korean man to win the title at the Asian Games, where the discipline was introduced in 2018.

The athlete, who has been doing his military service since June 2025 and is a member of his unit’s taekwondo demonstration team, said that despite the many medals of his career, he had never felt so happy.
