A delegation from North-West University (NWU), South Africa, visited the University of Malawi (UNIMA) on 13 October to review the partnership between the two institutions, which has expanded to a university-wide approach beyond the Department of Economics.
NWU’s School of Economic Sciences pledged 150,000 rand per student for up to 10 UNIMA students, covering study costs over two to three years. UNIMA’s Head of Economics, Professor Gowokani Chijere Chirwa, was appointed a professor at NWU, where he can teach and supervise doctoral students.
UNIMA Vice-Chancellor Professor Samson Sajidu said the agreement is among the university’s top three, focusing on master’s and doctoral training, staff exchanges and joint publications.
