The University of Iceland’s GRÓ Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme (GRÓ GEST) held a two-day conference with Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, on 21 and 22 October.
About 100 people took part, including programme alumni from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi, academics, students and civil society representatives. Alumni presented work on mental health, climate adaptation, women’s land rights, agriculture and education.
During the conference, Makerere Deputy Vice Chancellor Sarah N. Ssali announced that the university had approved a new policy allowing credits earned at overseas universities to count towards its degrees, which supports the Erasmus+ exchange with the University of Iceland. Some presentations may also be published in a special journal issue.
