Fourteen researchers from the University of Niš in Serbia appear in the 2026 edition of the Stanford–Elsevier list, which ranks the world’s top 2% most influential scientists based on citations of their work.
Twelve are on the single-year list and nine on the career-long list. On the annual list, the university went from 9 researchers in 2021 to 12 in 2026, and on the career list it more than doubled, from 4 to 9. It ranks fourth among Serbian universities on the annual list.
The researchers work in fields such as mathematics, chemistry, energy, environmental engineering, sport sciences, oncology and zoology. Six are in roughly the top 1% of their field, and mathematician Dijana Mosić climbed from 1,210th to 316th worldwide in five years.
