Professor Debs Sandão Tavares, coordinator of the Electrical Engineering degree at the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Technologies and Sciences (ISPTEC), presented a study in Porto on optimising a hybrid solar photovoltaic plant with battery storage in Luau, Moxico Leste.

The research, co-authored by Euclides Luís and Abreu Liliano, analyses how the plant connects to loads and the grid, the efficiency of the electrical interconnection and the role of batteries in keeping energy supply continuous and reliable, in the context of the Lobito Corridor.

The work was presented between 28 September and 2 October at Renewable Energy Integration Week 2026, during an international meeting on integrating solar and wind power into electricity grids.
