Twenty-five students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technological University of Panama (UTP) made an academic visit to the Termocolón power generation plant.

The visit was part of Engineering Week 2026 at the Panamá Oeste Regional Centre and was coordinated by engineer and lecturer Mónica Magallón. Students saw the electrical substation, the control rooms and the generation turbines.

The plant has two gas turbines and one steam turbine, which together supply 150 megawatts to Panama’s electricity market. The university said the visit linked classroom learning to the real processes and challenges of the country’s energy sector.
