NASA has announced that Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk will perform two spacewalks in the coming weeks, on 29 October and 5 November, with NASA astronaut Anil Menon.

The pair will install two new solar arrays which, together with those already in place, can increase the International Space Station’s power generation capacity by up to 30 per cent. Canada’s robotic arm, Canadarm2, will act as a base for one of the astronauts during the work.

Kutryk will be the fifth Canadian astronaut to step outside the station, after Chris Hadfield, Steve MacLean, Dave Williams and David Saint-Jacques. He arrived at the station on 1 October with the Crew-13 crew.
