Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology are creating a digital tool to support school meal planning. Rather than simply counting the nutrients on the plate, the system estimates how much iron, zinc and calcium the body can actually absorb.
The project will run until 2028 and will be tested in schools and public catering services. The aim is to help school kitchens combine health and sustainability and, later on, to make the tool available to a larger number of municipalities.
