NASA has released the complete set of lunar science data gathered by the Artemis II mission, making it available to the international scientific community and the public. More than 800 gigabytes have been uploaded to the Planetary Data System, the agency’s public archive of planetary missions, including previously unreleased material.

The package brings together more than 11,000 full-resolution images and videos of the Moon, taken with the crew’s handheld cameras and the Orion spacecraft’s cameras, as well as 8.5 hours of audio recordings of the astronauts’ scientific observations. NASA stresses that it is the first planetary science data set collected mainly by humans in more than half a century.

The crew consisted of NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency. During the lunar flyby on 6 April 2026, the four took turns photographing, annotating images and recording observations, even reporting impact flashes on the surface of the eclipsed Moon.

According to the agency, this data complements decades of information from the Apollo missions and robotic explorers and is already helping to prepare Artemis III and the missions that follow.
